Mole Removal Treatment

Mole removals are performed as an outpatient procedure at Bakersfield MedSpa. The specialist will administer a local anesthetic to prepare the patient for the procedure. Moles can be removed through a surgical excision or shave.

Surgical Shave

A surgical shave is performed to remove moles that are above the skin. During a surgical shave, the specialist will remove the mole with a surgical blade. Stitches are not required for this procedure.

Surgical Excision

A surgical excision is utilized to remove moles that extend deep into the skin. This procedure requires the specialist to remove the mole with a special tool. This procedure requires stitches following the removal. Stitches will be removed one to two weeks after the mole removal treatment.

Surgical shaves and excisions require minimal downtime. The skin should be kept clean and dry to help heal the area of concern. Each patient’s recovery process will vary based on the procedure performed. The specialist will spend time explaining the recovery process with each patient.
